Discussion

  1. Shyanne says:

My husband bought this machine for me. I only had it for two months before it stopped working.

  2. Marie Fievet says:

This machine is the worst nightmare of my life. It has never functioned properly. Will NOT sew on certain fabrics, switches stitches with no warning, etc. Last night, I was hemming a skirt,
machine froze, motor made a horrible gridning noise. This is what I have been putting up with ever since I purchased this Quantum Stylist in August 2010. And, by the way, Singer is not the same Singer that had a great reputation – do not be fooled.

  3. Mary says:

I have this machine for a month. I have been sewing real leather (jackets and
tops) and it is wonderful. So, the most difficult task is a cinch. However, I have
trouble with the bobbins which fill irregularly and later on mess the stitching.
I have not found the best zig zag nor satin stitches yet, and have to work on the letters and the buttonholes. I do agree that this machine is very good and I need to get some tutorials.

  4. Gee says:

Well, if your machine stopped working and IF you bought it new, it comes with a WARRANTY! Or maybe you didn’t read the instructions at all. i find these 2 reviews above obsolete, as they didn’t give specifics as of why the machines had problems. I just bought one today and can’t wait to use it, if I have problems, then my warranty and credit card guarantee will cover my costs, &/or expense. I have an industrial Consew walking foot machine that I use daily to make marine boat cushions, motorcycle seats, and other industrial items, I have a small Singer as a household unit that has never failed me. I believe in the Singer Brand. So there!

I’m with you. I hope you are happy with your machine. I got this machine last summer for an unbelievable price. I had just bought a brand new $1600 Pfaff (paid $900) from a private party on Ebay (so no warranty) and it doesn’t work, but this Singer had been wonderful. Not a bit of a problem…it makes a beautiful stitch and is so quiet. The thread cutter is perfect for paper pieced quilts. I hope your machine is every bit as ‘perfect’ as mine is.

  5. Janet says:

I also had problems with the bobbin–after reading the book–You can only use bobbin size 15J. After using the bobbins that came with the machine no problems. I like the thread cutter. I did have a problem winding the bobbin–looked in book–had machine incorrectly threaded. Any problems I had were user error.

  6. Ruth Huon says:

I bought this machine one year ago and did not use it much until late summer. Now I am trying to make some baby items and find the machine hard to use. I do not like the way the thread comes off the spool, it is forever hanging up on where the spool was cut when the thread was new. I find the instructions hard to understand. The zipper foot does not stitch close to the item being sewing when sewing cording. I am trying to make some baby items.
I would not purchase this machine again.

  7. Mildred says:

I bought this machine new 2 years ago. I use the machine regularly (at least once per week) and have had no problems whatsoever. Quiet and stitches beautifully. Helps to read the manual, as different brands often have different procedures.

Definitely would buy the machine again and would highly recommend it to others.
